MISSION STATEMENT
Mt Sheba Christian Boarding School is an outreach ministry of Mt Sheba Baptist Church in Weaverville, North Carolina. In 1992 Pastor Steve Rhinehart was driving by a property which at the time was for sale. On this property was an abandoned school building. God gave pastor Rhinehart a vision of a place to give children a Christian oriented-education. The potential was definitely there.
Mt Sheba Baptist Church, under the direction of the Holy Spirit and the leadership of Pastor Rhinehart, purchased the property. In 1993 the Mt Sheba Christian Academy was opened. Many lives have come through the door of the Academy, and more importantly, many souls have been won to Jesus Christ.
Pastor Rhinehart began considering taking the ministry a step further with a children's home for troubled teen-aged boys and girls. Again, through much prayer and leadership of the Holy Spirit, he and Brother Jim Yeary began making plans in the summer of 2003.
Those plans are now moving forward, God is blessing, and the Children's Home is on its way to becoming reality.
Our mission is founded on God's timing, His Word, His people, and His mission when He sent His Own Son to seek and save those who are lost. We embrace the same purpose as we go forward. Many children in our society don't know who their parents are, or even if anyone really cares about them. Often, the outcome is crime, violence, and illicit activities. Our mission is to provide a safe, loving home, and to teach these precious children about Jesus Christ, who really loves and cares for us all.
“When my father and my mother forsake me,
then the Lord will take me up.”
Psalms 27:10
