INTRODUCTORY LETTER
Dear Friend,
As you make this consideration concerning your child, our prayers are with you, as are the prayers of many people at our church. We understand that a dramatic change or an upheaval in the life of a family can be very stressful, heart-aching, and often confusing. The purpose of this ministry is to assist the entire family through the process
of finding help for the hurting in times of disagreements, rebellion and wrong choices.
We are not attempting to cast judgment, to run another individual's life, or to turn the mind of anyone. We only offer a chance for a child to step back and take a look at his/her life from a new perspective; at the choices they've made and the direction they are going, and then offering them an opportunity to look toward the future with a clearer insight of what they really desire in life in terms of themselves, their family, and their Creator. Oftentimes, the best way to do this is a change in routine and surrounding; living and learning with others who are also at the same crossroad in their lives.
Our staff has lived through many of the same situations, and has worked many years, collectively, with children. More importantly however, our staff members
have a distinct call from God to help hurting hearts with the genuine message of Jesus
Christ. We feel all who take part in this program will benefit long-term from our
atmosphere of compassion, discipline, and love as demonstrated by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We offer your child a chance to continue their education through a Bible-based
curriculum called Alpha & Omega Publishers (AOP). Included within this curriculum are five major subjects which are: Bible, History & Geography, Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. There is also a selection of electives should a student need them. The term of stay at our facility is 12 months. In some cases a shorter term may be all that is required.
Your child will learn responsibility through chores, duties and discipline. Time is also spent in chapel, along with regular services at our home church, and traveling to other churches around the area. Parents and/or Guardians will be allowed visits, phone calls, and progress reports as behavior and privilege is earned. This will be further
discussed as the application process continues. Our hearts' desire is to re-unite families
who will share a renewed vision of life and an outlook only brought about through Jesus Christ.
Admission and Assessment Process:
It is important for Mt. Sheba Christian Boarding School to receive a detailed description of the current situation and background information of each potential resident. We will accomplish this through our Admission Application. What should also be included on the Admission Application is any other psychological or counseling reports in assessing accurately any past or present problems that are contributing to the necessity of your child needing enrollment in an alternative living environment such as ours.
Please provide additional information on the Medical History, Educational History, and on the Student Admission Forms. Our staff will treat all information as strictly confidential.
If you would fax or e-mail these forms back to us as soon as possible,
along with a picture of your child, a follow-up interview will be scheduled to
further discuss your and your child's needs.
Mt. Sheba Christian Boarding School operates on a first-come, first-serve basis when filling vacancies; so your promptness in returning these materials to us is vital.
Again, we want you to know that our home church, Mt. Sheba Baptist Church joins us in praying for God's direction in our involvement with you in this difficult situation, and we'll hopefully talk soon.
Please feel free to call our Director, Jim Yeary, if you have any questions, or are concerned with the length of time it may take to put this application together or any other matter.
Sincerely,
Mt Sheba Christian Boarding School
Jim Yeary, Director
